In May ’98, in Delhi, as rain lashed down a huge Pepsi hoarding and Pakistan conducted six nuclear tests in reply to India’s five, Salman and Co. sang Dosti, a lone placard shouting: ‘Junoon explodes the music bomb’. For a year after that, Junoon was banned in Pakistan for being anti-national, for speaking out against the subcontinent’s nuclear arms race.
